On March 8, 2021, by the decision of the Provincial Council of the Ontario-Kentucky Province of the Congregation of the Resurrection, Fr. Adam Wroblewicz was removed from the office of pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Kitchener. He was accused of two instances of Professional Misconduct credibly substantiated.
Fr. Adam, following unsuccessful attempts to resolve these issues directly with his superiors, appealed to the Vatican seeking a fair trial of his case. The Holy See, after considering all the evidence in this case, stated that his removal from office was wrong and unlawful, and in violation of four canons of the Code of Canon Law.
We take this opportunity to admit our failure to properly follow canon law as we handled the situation with Fr. Adam. We sincerely apologize to Fr. Adam for his removal from the position of parish priest, for the harm our actions caused to his reputation, as well as the harm caused to the Parish of Sacred Heart in Kitchener. We ask forgiveness for our handling of this situation, and will restore Fr. Adam to public ministry in a capacity still to be determined.
